N.J. (Nancy) Lindquist was ten when she discovered the joy of creating
stories. In her teens, she began reading Trixie Beldon, Ginny Gordon, and
Cherry Ames, and decided she wanted to write mysteries.
Nancy double-majored in Psychology and English at Brandon University,
winning the English medal, picked up a certificate of Education at the
University of Manitoba and taught high school for two years, receiving the
Teacher of the Year Award in her second year.
After her marriage to Les Lindquist in 1972, she took a correspondence
course in writing and wrote one novel and most of a second. However,
babies started coming, and the writing was pushed into infrequent moments
as she became busy with family and began seventeen years of homeschooling.
In 1989, when her two oldest sons went to high school, she took out her
old manuscripts. Her first book, Best of Friends, a novel for
teens, was published in 1991. Shaded Light is her first book for adults.
Nancy still enjoys teaching - through leading writing workshops in both
fiction and non-fiction. She is currently working on her second mystery as
well as several teen novels.
Formerly from the Canadian prairies, Nancy and her family have lived in
the Toronto, Ontario, area for 19 years.
